walking down the memory lane

He walked her home from school, one day.
In fact, he has been doing so for months and rumours has it.
He liked her and so did she.
She often wished the walk home would get longer by the day.
He often said he could walk a little more each day.

Tasked to do the notice board in class.
He was delighted and so was she.
The first night of telephone conversation led to the endless nights of telephone calls.
And yes, that's how it all began.

On this one day where he walked her home, like he always did,
20 July 2000, a day that both of them, once so treasured.
Bringing her to the table below her block, in their uniforms.
They sat down and he was exceptionally quiet, fiddling with his watch.
She looked on, quietly and curious to what he was trying to do
And as she looked to him, opening her mouth,
He shyly took her wrist where her watch was and made a statement that changed their lives.
She was just smiling to herself, not knowing what to do.
Looking away, she brought herself back to earth.
He, on the other hand looked on intently, waiting for the most wanted response to that statement
"Today will be the day that we will be together, to share the many more days ahead in our lives."
She looked on upon him, and smiled like she never smiled before, with a twinkle in her eye.
That day was the day.
And everything else was history, history

Here as I walk myself along the memory lane
Remembering how we started was something i never dared to remember.
Sadly the bad times have stayed for years, covering the good times we had
Now, recalling how both of us started to being best friends for the next 4 years
Brought enough memories to make my heart skipped a beat, to make my heart wrenched in sourness, too.
I am glad, I now smile with tears lingering in my eyes
As I walked down this memory lane
For he has now became my most familiar stranger
Thank you for teaching me what it is to love
And to who I am today
Thank you, K.
- Maybe i will still need sometime before i can truly thank you. (edited on 15 September 2009)
