I had this thought for the longest time and today i finally decided to write it down and use it as a reminder for myself when i see myself losing my focus and centre. It would make sense for some and it would not for some. Nonetheless i just want to say a "Big Thank You" to those who were part of this race with me.
This thought struck me about a year ago.
Our journey to knowing God is somehow like a marathon run. A run which we know the final destination is something great, something that we would have achieved and be proud of. However like all marathons, runs and races, the process is tough and taxing. Remember how when you first sign up for a marathon - alone or with your friends. The excitement you felt, the determination you have to complete the race. Alone or with friends, you were determined to complete the race. And as the day draws nearer to the run, you started having doubts and questioning your own ability. As you embark on the run, you could still feel the enthusiasm you had for the final destination. You look forward and go. As you go on, 100 m after 100 m, you started to take heavier breaths. You start to slow down your pace. Every step you take seems to get heavier. You started questioning yourself. Moments like this makes you wonder why you are still hanging on. The sorching sun above your back. Drops of sweat dripping across your face. Many people are running ahead of you. You felt alone and the last to be on the race. Have you made the wrong decision to have even started on this race? But as you started to question yourself, friends whom you signed up with were behind you all along. Some were beside you. Some were ahead of you. But regardless which part of the race, there were people around you along this journey to reach your destination. They were your motivators. They were your companions. They were your benchmark. They pulled you along the way. Took your hands and walked the journey. And eventually you reached your destination. Proud and satisfied. Not of the accomplishment, but for you had friends who have journeyed with you and have never let you walk alone.
This is how i see it relative to my faith journey. I have started this race a while back and many times along this race i had moments where i wanted to just surrender and give up when it's too tough to go on. When obstacles come and never seem to get better, each step i took got heavier. It always seem so difficult alone. But thank God for angels in my life. I turn around and i see you, you, you and many more you. Always there to give me a hand and running this race together. How encouraging your words or actions, i could not express it here. It has definitely made me stronger and pulled me to where i am now. We know how tough this race can get but we never give up. We hang in and hold on together. Believing and trusting in God.
So here is to all my friendships, brothers and sisters whom have helped me along this journey to our one destination. Thank you all. For the memories of tears and laughters along this journey of faith.
